Freezeout vs Re-entry
- Freezeout: Players buy in once. If all chips are lost, the player is permanently eliminated. Traditional and highly respected format.
- Re-entry: Allows players who bust before the end of the registration period (typically Levels 6–8) to buy another full starting stack and receive a fresh seat draw.
- Progressive Mystery Bounty: A portion of the buy-in goes into a bounty pool. In mystery bounty formats, pulling an elimination token awards random envelopes containing prizes from £100 up to tens of thousands of pounds.
Big Blind Ante (BBA) Explained
Almost all modern UK tournament series (including GUKPT and UKIPT) use the Big Blind Ante format to speed up play. Instead of every player posting a small ante each hand, the player in the Big Blind posts a single ante equal to the size of the Big Blind. If the player is short-stacked, the big blind is posted first before the ante.
